Ramnäs Chain Inspection
Ramnäs have now expanded our existing services for mooring chain with a mobile inspection unit. The unit is handling chain up to 102 mm stud chain and can also fasten loose studs by stud-expansion (Studlock ®). Inspection is handled by skilled operators, which has many years of experiences from chain inspection.

Ramnäs Chain Service provides a comprehensive portfolio including Inspection, Storage and Testing chain and accessories with experienced personnel. Pickup and delivery of goods at your premises can easily be arranged for.
Inspection /NDT
Inspection including NDT with Phased Array technique, Magnetic
Particle Inspection as well as visual inspection, gauging and
dimensional control.
Maintenance
Ramnäs service includes maintenance through splice links,
marking and hard stamping, colour coding, RFID-chip, tagging
etc. for chain.
Testing
Proof load & Break load testing, Mechanical testing including
impact testing and tensile testing in collaboration with all major
classification societies. Customized reports and documentation
provided by Ramnäs.

Some of the most common adaptor sets, NOVA/RF Connectors
and chain tails from new production, available in stock for
immediate delivery.
Storage
Large storage areas indoor and outdoor in collaboration with
well-established transport companies ensures safe and fast

Ramnäs Bruk in the Aquaculture industry
Ramnäs Bruk has signed a contract to supply mooring chain and accessories to Norwegian pilot offshore fish farm project. Among other parties from the oil and gas industry Ramnäs Bruk has contributed with knowledge and long experience to create a reliable mooring system for this full-scale pilot project “Ocean Farm 1” offshore Frohavet, central Norway. The ocean fish farm is planned to be completed by the second half of 2017.
Mooring chain from Ramnäs Bruk will be used in the eight point mooring system securing the structure of a semisubmersible to the seabed. The rig for the fish farm is 68 meter high and has a diameter of 110 meters with a volume of 250.000 cubic meters. This permanently moored semi-submersible structure has favorable motion characteristics based on proven technology developed for optimal fish farming.
Ocean Farm 1 will be first of its kind in the world; the submerged facility has a generic design. This means that the design and operative experiences from this project can be re-used and the target is that an industrial production of this type of offshore fish farms can be started.

-Still the perfect link after more than 20 Year in Service
Ramnäs chain has been in service for more than 20 years at the Troll B semi-submersible in the North Sea.
After meticulously inspection of the 152 mm diameter stud link , the chain still shows top quality with no loose studs and low corrosion impact . All studs are found without displacement in any direction and the same applies to the perfect impressions and indentations due to Ramnäs asymmetrical stud design and stud expansion process.
